Lisa Mellman (left, with her son Gabriel) wants to make a mostly new 12-by-11-foot front room in her Silver Spring home into a some-more organic space for task and reading. She also needs storage for her 5 kids’ backpacks, boots and coats. She skeleton to keep her bookcases and a dark immature paint tone though would like to supplement a list for schoolwork and games, and a friendly mark where someone can twist adult with a book.
Designer Jennifer Schweikert adds a dais with cabinets to boost storage, and a peninsula-style list that allows mixed people to work during a same time.
Use a reduction of lighting, including a list flare and pendant, to irradiate a space. Pare behind books on a bookcases to revoke clutter. Add a few musical boxes to disguise not-so-attractive supplies. A gentle chair and flare by a front window emanate a friendly mark for reading. Burlap circular play are a stylish approach to arrangement kids’ pattern and other critical papers. Closed doors on a landing-zone cupboard keep a room neat and organized, permitting kids to combine on homework.
