The year homecoming was concluded on when a congregations of “Old Ebenezer” (located in a “Old Chilhowee [sic] area” a few miles southwest of Marion) joined with Marion Evangelical Lutheran in downtown Marion in a early 1900s.

Smiles, laughter, hugs and greetings were exchanged in a parking area and on a angled grass of a stout small section church that has welcomed generations of worshipers given it was orderly in 1799. The village once called “Old Chilhowee” was staid by mostly German folks looking for leisure and places to lift their families. In early years they common a record church in a Mt. Zion area with Methodists until a disagreement, when they changed to a “Old Ebenezer” site, that was given by a Rosenbaum family. The tomb was started before a church was built.
