In plotting my intelligent home transformation, I’ve turn a large fan of Philips Hue. And today, Philips Lighting done a intelligent lighting family of a products even better, with new starter kits, light fixtures, and other additions.
I’ve created a bit about my plans—really, only ideas during this point—for intelligent lighting formerly in Paul’s Tech Makeover: First Steps Towards a Smart(er) Home (Premium), Paul’s Tech Makeover: Lighting Basics (Premium), and substantially elsewhere. And we wrote about my early knowledge with Philips Hue in Hands-On with a Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance Starter Kit. Plus, we can see some of my intelligent lighting experiments (like here)—and a other home renovations—on my Instagram account. But a brief chronicle is that we unequivocally like a Philips Hue equipment. And we’ll be regulating a lot of it in a new house.
This week during IFA, Philips Lighting done a series of announcements, and not all of them request to what I’m meditative about for a new house. But here’s a discerning rundown.
New starter kits and bundles. Philips Lighting will start shipping new versions of a starter kits and multi-packs this Autumn. For a starter kits, a large change is that they will embody some-more bulbs. For example, a Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance Starter Kit that we purchased a month ago enclosed a Philips Hue Bridge and 3 bulbs, though a new chronicle will embody a Bridge and 4 bulbs. Additionally, Philips will offer a new E14 candle in a 2-bulb multi-pack.
New light fixtures. Philips announced dual new white ambiance mark lights, a Philips Hue white ambiance Buckram spots and a Philips Hue white ambiance Buratto. There’s also a new Philips Hue white ambiance Felicity list flare and a connected lavatory lamp, a Philips Hue white ambiance Struana.
Apple HomeKit compatibility. While we can already control Philips Hue lights around Apple HomeKit, Philips is now opening adult a full product line—including a Bridge, a Philips Hue tap, a Philips Hue suit sensor, and a Philips Hue wireless dimmer switch—to Apple’s ecosystem. This means that we can confederate your Philips Hue lighting controls (scenes, timers, whatever) with other home automation systems for window blinds, thermostats, and more.
Philips Hue Entertainment. This vital new beginning will assistance business emanate what Philips calls “immersive ‘surround sound’ for a eyes.” Which means that we can a synchronize ambient lighting around your HDTV to compare specifically promote programming on The Voice, Syfy, and Live Nation. In other words, a lighting will compare what we see on-screen.
There’s more, though those are a large ones from my perspective.
